| An extraordinary tale of a young pacifist tricked into fighting in the First World War. The book is composed of a number of letters sent home to his wife from the fight against the Turks in Palestine in 1916.
This book describes the dilemma of a Conscientious Objector in World War One whose convictions were disallowed by the authorities. Conscripted into the British Infantry and sent to serve overseas, he found himself in General Allenby`s Palestine campaign, involved in the third attack on Gaza in 1917, actually going over the top with loaded rifle and fixed bayonet, yet determined not to fight. He wrote 100 letters home to his wife, and after the War he selected seven of them for preservation and the rest he buried in a field. After ninety years those seven long letters have now been edited by his fourth son.
The book has 142 pages with 34 illustrations. Price £10 (£11.50 postage & Packing) within UK. $22.00 postage & packing to the USA. To place orders please contact Anastasia Press on: 0127 984 2084 |
